The Malaysian Students Association at the University of Michigan (MiMSA) is organizing the second Malaysian Studies Forum! This year, with the theme of  "Rediscovering Malaysia, Redefining Identities", MSF is being convened to discuss pertinent contemporary issues involving the economy, student activism and constitutional law. SHAD SALEEM FARUQI

an emeritus professor of Law and Legal Advisor at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). he has served as a CONSTITUTIONAL consultant to many countries including Fiji AND AFGHANISTAN. AT HOME, HE IS a member of the Prime Minister’s Special Committee to Review Petroleum Royalties to East Coast States AND  has drafted six pieces of educational legislation including the 2000 UiTM Act that elevated ITM to UiTM.

ZIAD RAZAK

an MPA candidate at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. His professional experience includes private equity, management consulting, and public policy. he was in charge of the Corruption and Oil, Gas and Energy  portfolios at the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU). From 2007 to 2009, Ziad was a speechwriter and policy aide to Tun Abdullah Badawi, the Fifth Prime Minister of Malaysia.

MEREDITH WEISS

AN Associate Professor of Political Science at the University at Albany, State University of New York. she is the author of "Student Activism in Malaysia: Crucible, Mirror, Sideshow" AND  numerous journal articles. Her research addresses political mobilization and contention, the politics of development, forms of collective identity, and electoral politics in Southeast Asia.

JEMILAH MAHMOOD

Dr. Jemilah Mahmood has extensive humanitarian field experience and has held numerous positions overseeing the coordination and quality of humanitarian relief efforts. In 1999, she founded the Malaysian Medical Relief Society – also know as MERCY Malaysia. Currently, Dr. Mahmood is  working towards the United Nations World Humanitarian Summit, a Senior Fellow at Khazanah Nasional Berhad in Malaysia’s Khazanah Research and Investment Strategy Division also a board of trustees member of Teach For Malaysia.
